Acquired by Central European Media Enterprises (CME) in March 2007, Sport.ro is "The New National Sport Channel" on the Romanian TV market. Sport.ro broadcasts high-quality sports and sport-related programming in Romania through its ownership of valuable broadcast license rights to some of the most popular sports programming. Broadcasting 24 hours a day and reaching 66% of Romania's 20.2 million people, Sport.ro broadcasts approximately 49% locally produced content and achieved an all day audience share of 2.3% in the first half of 2008 for the male urban target group.

Sport.ro holds the broadcast rights to major football leagues and championships including the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Cup, FA Cup (English National Football Cup) and Carling Cup, Brazilian and Argentine Football Championships. In addition to the football, Sport.ro holds broadcast rights to a variety of sports and entertainment including European Handball competitions top domestic leagues (Spanish and German Handball Championships), premier professional boxing fights, World Wrestling Entertainment, Wimbledon Tennis, The ATP Masters Series, The Tennis Masters Cup, Tri-Nations rugby and the Super 14's (Southern Hemisphere's premier rugby union competition).

Combining the locally produced sports shows and daily sports news programs with the broadcasting of major sporting competitions has allowed Sport.ro to quickly rise to the number one position in the sports channel market.
