Kino Channel
KINO has become another successful Ukrainian channel for CME since it began broadcasting in 2006. Launched on July 1, 2006 and broadcasting 24 hours a day to the Ukraine's 46 4 million people, KINO replaced the former Kiev Channel 7 and has a target audience of the 15-50 age group.
KINO offers viewers a new style of programming consisting purely of entertainment programs. Daytime scheduling targets the teenage audience and includes a mixture of action animation (Mummy, Fantastic Four, Dragon Hunter) and teenage sitcoms (Adam's Family) during 3 to 5pm with youth series (Alias, Gilmore Girls, Hollyoaks) shown from 5 to 7pm. Drama series (Footballer's Wives) and Cinema related entertainment programs (Entertainment Tonight, Insider) are shown between 7 - 9pm followed by action based films from 9 – 11pm and drama series (Tremors, Sea of Souls, Sopranos) 11 – 12am.
KINO also broadcasts a number of locally produced entertainment programs in addition to the popular overseas programs that include Alley of Start (a light and dynamically styled program uncovering the secrets of cinema production) and Kino ta Krapka (modern style talk show introducing young Ukrainian filmmakers). Mystery of Cinema broadcasts action and drama movies that feature Ukrainian stars on a daily basis.
KINO is currently in its infancy, however, it will continue to develop its program content and transmission throughout Ukraine. Currently KINO has technical coverage of 56%, although planned expansions are expected to result in an increase in the near future.
