Kanal A

Kanal A was launched in May 1991 and was the first commercial television station in Slovenia. It entered a phase of accelerated development in October 2000, when it joined the company PRO PLUS. Ever since the merger, the channel has become increasingly successful.

The television programming provides nationwide coverage, it broadcasts 24 hours a day, and in December 2010 switched to digital.

Kanal A is a general entertainment channel with a male focus and attracts a large viewership. In 2010 it had an average prime time audience share of 14% in the primary target age group 18-49 (AGB Nielsen Media Research).

Kanal A provides viewers with local news, sports and entertainment shows as well as international formats such as Top Gear, UEFA Champions League football and Moto GP. The news show WORLD on Kanal A (SVET na Kanalu A), is broadcast on weekdays at 6 p.m. and is the most viewed show in its time slot as well as the second most viewed news program in the country. In the fall of 2011 SVET launched a brand new Saturday news edition: World:Zoom (Svet:Povečava).

CME’s New Media Division operates Voyo.si, a video-on-demand service that offers content from the PRO PLUS library through its catch-up TV system, access to sport and music events, live streaming and advanced previews of TV broadcasts.

It also supports the broadcast division though the operation of channel and news program associated websites such as 24ur.com, the most visited web page in Slovenia, and a number of specialized web portals including: zadovoljna.si, bibaleze.si, cekin.si, vizita.si, golfportal.info, dominvrt.si, moškisvet.com, okusno.je which rank among the most visited Slovenian web pages.
