Launched in March 2002, Galaxie Sport holds a stable position in the Czech and Slovak TV market by broadcasting high-quality sports and sport-related programming in the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic. Galaxie Sport broadcasts 24 hours a day to the combined Czech Republic and Slovak Republic market population of approximately 15.6 million people.
Galaxie Sport owns valuable broadcast license rights to major sporting leagues and events including the National Hockey League (NHL), Premier League Football (English Football), the National Basketball Association (NBA), ATP Masters Series (Tennis), Major League of Baseball (MLB), the National Football League (American Football), Le Mans Series, 24 Le Mans and INDY Car (Autosport) and PGA Tour (Golf). In addition Galaxie Sport has broadcast rights to Formula 1 programming as part of a TV NOVA contract. Galaxie Sport appeals mainly to the male demographic aged 20-49 with sporting programs and events helping it achieve daily viewers of up to 113,000 during the year 2007.
The combined Czech Republic and Slovak Republic markets represent approximately 6.0 million households with cable connected to approximately 1.8 million households. Galaxie Sport currently has carriage agreements with all of the largest cable distributors in the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic reaching almost 1.5 million subscribers.
