CITI
On February 23rd 2006, Ukraine's newest television channel CITI began broadcasting original, entertainment-focused programming 24 hours a day to viewers in the Kiev region. CITI reaches 12% of all television households in Ukraine and achieved an all day audience share of almost 2% in the 15-50 age group in the Kiev region during the first half of 2008.
Central European Media Enterprises (CME), owner of CITI, KINO television channel and co-owner of Studio 1+1, launched CITI as a Kiev-dedicated infotainment station focused on locally-produced news, lifestyle and consumer-oriented programming.
CITI's launch is part of CME's broader strategy to create and distribute high-quality local and niche channels in its existing markets in Central and Eastern Europe.
CITI recruited well-known television producer and presenter, and current head of the Odessa Film Studio, Oleksandr Tkachenko, to advise CITI on content development, programming strategy and talent acquisition.
CITI is a Kiev-dedicated niche channel featuring fresh new talent and a broadcasting schedule dominated by locally-produced news and lifestyle programming. Drawing on the success of "Star Dance" on "1+1", CITI executives believe independent programming and production will drive audience and advertising share. Established newscaster Ivanna Najda, previously of the "New Channel", will anchor CITI's youthful cast.
With a unique, locally-relevant programming mix, the channel serves as a meaningful platform for urban advertisers and sponsors who want to have a direct dialogue with Kiev's 5 million consumers.
While CITI is currently a regional channel, serving only the capital city, CITI executives will explore opportunities to expand the channel's reach to other areas of the country.
The General Director of CITI TV is Onno Zonneveld.
