'Farma' and 'Zvijezde Pjevaju' beat 'Celebrity Big Brother'
March 11, 2008, Novi list
'Celebrity Big Brother' marked the beginning of its new season with a thirty percent drop in ratings compared to other pilots of this show.
If the TV viewership shares measured these days are any indication, it seems that RTL has suffered a crushing defeat on all fronts. RTL's 'Celebrity Big Brother' marked the beginning of its new season with a thirty percent drop in ratings compared to other pilots of this show. Saturday's 'Top Model' with Tatjana Juric had fifteen percent lower ratings than HTV's 'Zvijezde pjevaju' (Singing with the stars), which had similar ratings to 'Farma'. On Sunday, Nova TV's reality show beat RTL's 'Big Brother' live show by almost eleven percent of the total ratings and by fourteen percent in the age group between 18 and 49. The series 'Urota' is another novelty on RTL, which also failed and only captured fifteen percent of the audience, while the new show 'Stipe u gostima' on HTV managed to capture almost thirty-five percent of the audience. So either 'Urota' is a bad copy of American serials or such a show simply cannot make itself felt in the kind of program RTL features.
It is also interesting that the show '1 protiv 100' (1 against 100) had higher ratings than 'Big Brother' and 'Farma'. But when it comes to the age group between 18 and 49, 'Farma' had eleven percent higher ratings than the quiz show. With this, HTV has once again shown its power, but not the weakness of Nova TV, which has asserted itself quite a bit in the television market. When it comes to 'Big Brother', the audience is mainly dissatisfied with the candidates, who are not educational at all, which is not the case in the show 'Top Model', where the jury is trying to be educational. Despite the lower ratings, 'Top Model' nevertheless deserves praise for its educational value and the production.
