PRO TV News – Tibetans at the Chinese Border nominated for 2007 International Emmy Awards

We are proud to announce that PRO TV News - Tibetans at the Chinese Border has been chosen as a Nominee in the 2007 International Emmy® Awards in the category of News.

The news coverage which reveals violent scenes of Chinese boarder guards shooting at Tibetan pilgrims, entered the Emmy Awards Competition, along with another 800 entries in 11 categories. Over 500 judges participating in 35 countries decided on the nominees, with the winners announced on 24th September. It is the first time in Romanian journalism history that a news feature has been selected and nominated in the most important competition of global broadcasters.

In the News category, PRO TV News - Tibetans at the Chinese Border competes with three features produced for: TV Globo (Brazil), Channel 4 News (United Kingdom) and ABS-CBN (The Philippines).

"The 2007 nominees are a testimony to the diversity of international television news organizations which now reach a high standard of excellence," said Bruce L. Paisner, President & CEO of The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and President of Hearst Entertainment.

"I think this is the greatest achievement for any journalist. I am grateful to all the people who stood by me during the expedition. I hope the images I filmed on 30 September, at the Chinese border will change something in Tibetans' life", said Sergiu Matei.
