More than 64 percent of Czech and Slovak people watching television on Friday evening tested their knowledge with the unique Czech Republic against Slovak Republic Test The Nation 2006 which for the first time was broadcast simultaneously live on TV Nova and TV Markíza. In a dramatic competition the winners were the Slovaks who with 104 points beat the Czechs, whose knowledge coefficient was measured at 100 points. Thanks to Test The Nation both channels achieved record viewing figures for 17.11.2006 as a whole. The programme itself was watched by astonishing an 4 579 000 viewers over the age of 12 in the Czech and Slovak Republics.

On TV Nova Test The Nation was watched by a record 2 372 000 viewers, i.e. 27.7 % of the population over the age of 15 (in the over 12 category the figure was 2 479 000 viewers). It accounted for 64.21 % of all people whose television was on at that time. Very similar figures were also achieved yesterday by TV Markíza which was watched by 2 100 000 Slovaks over the age of 12 (the main target group in Slovakia) which means a rating of 28 % and a 64.8 % audience share.

Seven groups in the studio (teachers, school seniors, policemen and women, blondes, school caretakers, craftsmen and celebrities), internet users, people sending text messages and television viewers answered 50 questions on five different subjects (literature, geography, history, natural sciences and art). The Slovaks eventually proved to have the better knowledge and were declared the winners. Their knowledge was measured at a coefficient of 104 points whereas the Czechs scored 4 less.

Although Slovak Republic won against Czechs, TV Nova has proved its success once again. The last television week (13. - 19. 11. 2006) has been a great success for TV Nova. Throughout the whole day its programmes were watched by on average 44.56 % of viewers (15+ category) who were watching television at that time which is the second largest audience share since the beginning of 2006. Nova was even more successful during the main broadcasting period - here in the 15+ category it achieved a 51.36 % share which is a record for 2006 and is actually the second most successful share since 2003.
