Acquired by CME in April 2010, bTV reaches almost all of Bulgaria’s 7.5 million people and in 2011 achieved an average prime time audience share of 43.9% in the 18-49 target group, making it the country’s most popular channel. bTV was originally launched in June 2000 and was the first private television channel to enter the market. It has held the position of the most watched channel in Bulgaria for eight years. In May 2011 bTV was crowned the most popular brand in Bulgaria in the My Love Marks competition run by BG business review, a respected marketing and economic journal.

bTV is digitally equipped, using DVC PRO for quality TV production, and in 2006 was the first station in Bulgaria to implement the state-of-the-art HDTV technology.

Broadcasting 24 hours a day, bTV offers a quality selection of movies, reality formats, talk shows and comedy programs. The news and public affairs programs of bTV are established information leaders with the highest rating of viewers’ trust.

bTV’s has a number of hugely successful local productions, Citizens in Excess ( Столичани в повече) attracted an astounding average share of 58.2% in 2011 and reality and entertainment format The Voice, attracted 50.6%.

bTV is a socially responsible media company and its mission is to encourage the formation of positive values in Bulgarian society. It initiates and supports many charities and social campaigns. In November 2011, bTV won an award for its ecological campaign ‘Let’s Clean Bulgaria in One Day’ when it not only inspired the public and institutions to take to the streets and clean them, it developed an interactive software map where Bulgarians could upload the location of dirty zones that needed cleaning.

CME operates Voyo.bg , a video-on-demand service that offers content from bTV’s library through its catch-up TV system, access to sport and music events, live streaming and advanced previews of TV broadcasts.

In November 2011 Ladyzone.bg won an award in the BG Site contest for Launch of a New Brand. The website of bTV’s locally produced series Seven Hours Difference, 7chasa.btv.bg also won an award in the ‘Education, Science and Culture section. The most visited website www.btv.bg in terms of unique users, page views, and news articles was also distinguished at the awards as were stolichani.btv.bg and glasatnabulgaria.bg
