Czech Republic - TV Nova

Nadace Nova Logo Nova Foundation was established in 2000 to cover all the charity activities connected with TV Nova. Its activities are a permanent and long term commitment towards those whom it supports. It also understands that long term continuous work is what is most needed, rather than projects attracting attention just for a short time. That is why it is also building its charity work on cooperation with reliable partners. TV Nova and other contributors can be sure that resources donated to the Foundation will be used only for "good causes". In 2007, Nova Foundation continued with its good work from previous years. It supported various charity projects not only financially but also by airing charity spots on TV Nova.

The first area where Nova Foundation directs its activities are events in cooperation with TV Nova.

"We Want to Live With You" is a traditional, spectacular charity concert for people with learning difficulties from the entire Czech Republic, which takes place every year. The number of participants doubled in 2007 compared to previous years, thanks to its unique atmosphere, and had to be moved from Prague Lucerna to the bigger O2 arena. Almost 6,000 children and adults from across the Czech Republic attended the event in 2007. Famous Czech celebrities performing the for cheering participants at this event included Karel Gott, Helena Vondrackova, Hana Zagorova, Bohus Matus, Ilona Czakova and Ondrej Hejma. It is traditionally moderated by two of TV Nova's famous faces, siblings Adela Brouskova-Gondikova and Dalibor Gondik. All of the performers sang without claiming any honorarium.

BAILANDO – Dancing for You. Bailando is the program that gives competitors the opportunity to dance with famous celebrities. Nova Foundation helped to fulfil not only the dreams of each of the program’s competitors but also used the show to raise money to purchase a multifunctional incubator for UPMD Podoli in Prague. UPMD is the Institute for the Care of Mother and Child, which offers complete care of the health of mothers and their children and is open to patients from the entire Czech Republic. An expert team of obstetricians, gynaecologists and neonatologists provide women with a complete care during pregnancy and birth and their perinatological centre cares for women with problems during pregnancy and provides care to prematurely born babies.

The stars of TV Nova take part in Charity road trips throughout the year. Famous faces from TV Nova's television programs visit orphanages, summer children's camps, institutions, hospitals and hospices across the Czech Republic. Last year, Nova Foundation visited the care home Srdicko in Brno, a care home for people with learning difficulties in Merklin u Prestic, and the cout camp Branov u Krivoklatu. In January 2007, actors from TV Nova's "Ulice" series donated their daily salaries to the project "LIVE TRIAL" for children from orphanages. They supported this project with a cheque for 126 900,- CZK. In March, 10 actors from TV Nova's top television series took part in a charity bowling match for children from Moravian orphanages. These are just few examples of many different activities that TV Nova's celebrities took part in throughout the year.

Another area which Nova Foundation focuses on are projects connected to children.

NATAMA is a project providing professional surrogate family care which was initiated in 2003 by Nova Foundation. Too many children in the Czech Republic are brought up in orphanages and the concept behind Natama is that children should be able to grow up in families, not in institutions. This project supports jeopardized children and children who are not fortunate enough to live in fully functional family. Its prime objective is to fully train volunteers as surrogate parents. There are currently 15 children placed in surrogate families. Last year, on December 5, Natama started a new tradition called "Santa Claus helps to find parents" and the date has become known as the Day of Foster Parents.

Tereza Maxová Foundation has been cooperating with Nova Foundation for many years. It helps children growing up in orphanages or in surrogate families. It was founded in 1997 by its benefactress, top model Tereza Maxova, with the aim of providing extensive support and assistance to abandoned children. It has more than 200 infant and children’s homes under its patronage in the Czech Republic caring for over 15,000 children.

DUHA (Rainbow) Company was established in 1992 and its Duha Foundation focuses on integration of the community of people with learning difficulties (supported living, centre of daily service, supported employment). Nova Foundation has been associated with Duha since its inception. Throughout the last seven years, Nova Foundation has supported Duha with almost 12.000.000 CZK. In 2007, Nova Foundation helped to promote the Duha Foundation within TV Nova programs. Throughout the year, TV Nova's famous faces have been visiting people with learning difficulties in special institutions across the Czech Republic.

Childhood without Injury has been a non-profit project since 1997. Its prime objective is prevention against childhood injuries leading to the permanent reduction of accidents involving children. Since 1997, childhood injuries in the Czech Republic have decreased by 41%. This is a result of the awareness raised by this campaign. In 2007, Nova Foundation continued to support the project not only financially but also within TV Nova programs.
