Czech Republic - TV Nova

Nadace Nova Logo Nova Foundation was established in 2000 to underpin all the charity activities connected with TVNova. Its activities are a permanent and long term commitment towards those whom it supports. It also understands that long term continuous work is what is most needed, rather than projects attracting attention just for a short time. That is why it is also building its charity work on cooperation with reliable partners. In 2008, Nova Foundation continued with its good work from previous years. It supported various charity projects not only financially but also by airing charity spots on TV Nova. In 2008, TV Nova donated spots with a total value of 2616845CZK.

The most important projects of Nova Foundation include the following:

"We Want to Live With You" is a traditional, spectacular charity concert held in aid of people with learning difficulties from the entire Czech Republic. It has taken place every year since 1995 and each year many famous Czech celebrities participate in the event. The number of participants doubled during previous years, thanks to its unique atmosphere, and had to be moved from Prague Lucerna to the bigger O2 arena. Almost 6000 children and adults from across the Czech Republic attended the event in 2008. It is traditionally moderated by two of TV Nova's famous faces, siblings Adela Brouskova-Gondikova and Dalibor Gondik. All of the performers sang without claiming any honorarium.

Michal Velíšek Awards are being given for bravery while saving human life to commemorate former TV Nova employee Michal Velíšek who was shot in September 2005 in Prague while helping a young woman under attack. Nominated candidates are voted by TV Nova viewers within the project Heroes among us.

"Move with Hanka and Nova" is the year-round project of fitness trainer Hanka Kynychová and her civil association and TV Nova, who is the main partner of this event. The key objective is to enable children from orphanages to try modern forms of sport and dancing activities, such as aerobic, hip-hop, break dance and oriental dances. More than 500 children from 33orphanages participated in November2008 in a competition where they were able to demonstrate all the disciplines they had learnt during the year. TV Nova group celebrities became patrons of the teams and also participated in the competition.

Every year, the stars of TV Nova group take part in a number ofCharity road trips. Famous faces from TV Nova's television programs visit orphanages, summer children's camps, institutions, hospitals and hospices across the Czech Republic. During summer 2008, Nova Foundation visited the summer camp for handicapped people in Lutová near Chlum by Třeboň, the scout camp in Zhořec near Manětín, sport summer camp in Želivka and homestead for handicapped persons Zborovice by Kroměříž and many others. In December 2008, speakers and actors visited the children orphanage in Vrbno pod Pradědem to donate Christmas presents. These are just few examples of the many different activities that TV Nova group celebrities took part in throughout the year.

NATAMA is a project providing professional surrogate family care which was initiated in 2003 by Nova Foundation. Too many children in the Czech Republic are brought up in orphanages and the concept behind Natama is that children should be able to grow up in families, not in institutions. This project supports jeopardized children and children who are not fortunate enough to live in a fully functional family. Its prime objective is to fully train volunteers as surrogate parents. There are currently 15 children placed in surrogate families. Last year, on December 5, Natama started a new tradition called "Santa Claus helps to find parents" and the date has become known as the Day of Foster Parents.
